Pre school children aged 3 and 4 occupy the ground floor of Gable House. Staffing ratios are one adult to every 8 children. There are two brightly decorated open plan care rooms, bathroom and changing facilities.
Free flow access to our undercover outdoor area and playground is always available so that children have lots of choice and can freely choose whether they wish to play inside or outside.
Both indoors and outdoors, we set up planned activities so that all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum are accessible for children to engage in meaningful, educational play.
Outdoors, children love to learn about wildlife and have access to lots of choice of fun filled play and learning outdoor activities.
Indoors, the children have a wide variety of play/ learning opportunities including a suite of IPads, reading corner, home corner, construction area and messy/craft activity area.
Gable House employs highly experienced, qualified staff with the majority of staff working with a level three, four or five qualification in childcare. We employ both an early years graduate plus a qualified teacher.
Basic literature, numeracy, language and communication skills are focussed upon to prepare each child for the classroom environment when starting school.
In addition, we emphasize the importance of allowing each child to express their individuality through creative play, crafts, dance, music etc.
Children learn at their individual pace and we liaise with teachers from local schools who are invited to visit our setting so that we may pass on information gathered by our staff through observations in each child’s individual profile.
