Owners/Directors

Fiona and Chris Courtland have owned Gable House Nursery since 2003. As a husband and wife team we are commited to ensuring delverance of the highest quality of care and education for every child at Gable House.

Fiona has over 25 years of experience working within Early Years. Fiona holds a level 5 qualification in childcare and is a qualified teacher/assessor in Early Years training. Fiona is also the Early Years representitive for East Riding Council's Virtual Governance Board and holds a keen interest in raising outcomes for all children through her involvment with this committee.

Chris is our financial Director and also ensues that our premises are well maintained and safe.

Management

Our nursery is managed jointly by two mangers.

Louise Dixon has worked in Early Years for over 12 years and holds both a level 6 and Masters Degree in Early Years studies. Louise is also our settings SENCo and Safeguarding lead professional. Louise is passionate about supporting all children based on individual needs /circumstances and works tirelessly to internally assess the standard of support strategies which we use to ensure that every child thrives in our care, both on a physical and emotional level.

Kerry Smith has worked in Early Years for 19 years and has worked at Gable House for 17 of those years. Kerry holds a level 6 Degree in Childcare Studies and is also our Safeguarding Lead Professional. Kerry's passion lays within curriculum theory/implementation and she spends much of her free time studying the latest research linked to new educational concepts in Early Years education. Kerry passionately advocates the necessity to promote equality in education, particularly when it comes to supporting vulnerable children. This links within our curriculum aims and intentions set out for every child.

Emily Hinchcliffe is our Assistant manager and holds a level 3 in Childcare studies. Emily has a keen interest in health and fitness which can be seen also in her work practice. Emily's passion is to encourage all children to develop knowledge and understanding surrounding how we can keep our bodies and minds active and healthy for optimum physical and emotional development. She works closely with our PANCo (Physical and Nutritional Coordinator) Emily Price, so that activities include plenty of physical play and learning with educational links supporting the idea of value related to keeping our bodies healthy inside and out.

Room Leaders/Assistants - Between our two buildings we have 25 staff members, 18 of these hold a level 3-6 qualification in childcare and 4 staff members hold a level 2. All staff members have age specific training depending on which room they work in, all have a full Paediatric First Aid certificate, Safeguarding and food hygiene qualifications and we have annual CPD training expectations for all team members.

Staff Wellbeing.

Fiona and Chris believe that the key to delivering exceptional childcare starts with the team. Emphasis is placed on supporting positive attitudes towards building team spirit and acknowledgeing the individual value each and every staff member has to offer to the smooth running of Gable House.

The wellbeing, happiness and mental health of every staff member is important to us.

For this reason Fiona has appointed Joanne Banks as our staff wellbeing champion and Joanne is responsible for overseeing team building ideas both inside and outside nursery. Some of the perks of working at Gable House include the following -
